Che (aka Che Guevara)
2005
Directed by Josh Evans, starring Eduardo Noriega
This movie has one thing going for it: At an hour and fifteen minutes, it is refreshingly short compared the 2009 movie of the same name.
A movie this brief, however, is bound to gloss over events. The film is mainly a series of flashbacks from Guatemala to the Sierra Maestra, then fast-forward to Che’s death in Bolivia.
Interestingly, a particular effort was made to acknowledge Che’s life in Guatemala, his first wife, and their child. The events of the movie consist of dialogs between Che and various characters speaking in a bizarre array of “Cuban” accents.
In a bold move, Che is depicted as rather insecure, lacking military aptitude, and idolizing Fidel. Fear not, he is also portrayed as smelly and asthmatic.
