Dress Your Baby in Che

funky-fresh-designs-1Are you expecting a little one? Or maybe you know someone who is?

Check out these Che onesies we found on Etsy, a fantastic web site that sells only handmade goods.

We contacted their designer, a Brooklyn woman named Marjolein, to ask her some questions about her pint-sized version of the classic Che tee. Here’s what she had to say:

Che Guevara isn’t an image most people would expect to see on a baby. What inspired you to screen Che’s image onto a onesie?

I thought it was funny and kids are rebels by nature.

What kind of feedback have you gotten on the Che onesies?

I’ve been printing this design since 2001 and there’s been only one lady that said she thought it was wrong to push your political views on your children.

Besides that, I’ve only had positive reactions about it. I was even interviewed for a Latin American TV show made by young people for young people.

funky-fresh-designs-2What do you like most about your Che onesies?

That it’s my own hand-drawn design from the original photo and not a copy of the mass market tees. By drawing each design myself my “hand” is in it. That way all the designs that make up my entire line of kids’ T-shirts match.

Oh! and I dye the onesies by hand. That’s because I could not find red ones, just white and pastels.

Do you do special requests? What if someone wants a blue Che onesie?

Sure! I’ve done army green with a black print in the past. I print to order, and I can do any size, from Preemie Baby to XXL Adult.

I had two preemies myself and you can’t get anything cool for those tiny ones. They stay small for a long time, and you get a little tired of dressing them in light blue and light pink.

If someone wants a baby-sized Che tee, how can they find you?

They should check out my Funky Fresh store on Etsy.
