Our thanks to Michelle S.
She spotted Che in the pages of the July-August 2009 issue of Budget Travel magazine. Even though he’s just itty-bitty on the page, it still counts!
Eagle eyes, Michelle!
This particular Che Spotting is from an article about “new design discoveries” in hot destination cities around the world like London, Mexico City and Buenos Aires.
The section on Buenos Aires lists a hotel, galleries and boutiques where you can find “new” design in action.
The Che spotted here is a window display for a small chain of stores in Buenos Aires called “Nobrand.”
Nobrand has taken popular icons of Argentine culture — like a mate gourd, yummy empanadas, a steak, and the bandoneon (an accordion used in tango music) — turned them into very simple graphic images and screened them onto t-shirts, key chains, shoes and the like.
And Nobrand didn’t stop there. It also turned recognizable Argentine personalities into simple graphic images too. Eva Peron, Diego Maradona and Carlos Gardel all receieved a Nobrand graphic makeover — as did Che.
